Position Overview - Host + Barista

As a Team Member at Little Lattes Play Cafe, you'll play a key role in creating a warm, welcoming space for families to relax, connect, and play. This is a hands-on, dynamic role perfect for someone who loves working with children, takes pride in great customer service, and isn’t afraid to jump in wherever help is needed. Whether you're steaming a latte, tidying the play area, or greeting guests with a smile, you'll be part of what makes Little Lattes so special!

Key Responsibilities:

Barista Duties:

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, handling cafe food, and other beverages.

• Maintain knowledge of our menu offerings to make recommendations to customers.

• Operate and maintain cafe equipment, ensuring it is clean and in good working order.

Play Area Maintenance:

• Regularly reset and sanitize the play area to maintain a clean and safe environment.

• Ensure that all toys and equipment are in good condition and promptly report any issues.

Bathroom Upkeep:

• Check bathrooms regularly to ensure cleanliness and stock necessary supplies (toilet paper, soap, diaper pail cleanliness etc.).

• Sanitize surfaces and handle minor maintenance tasks as needed.

Party/Event Hosting:

• Greeting families and setting up party space with decor, tableware, and any themed items

• Guiding families through the party timeline (play, food, cake, activities)

• Helping serve refreshments and coordinating timing with kitchen (if applicable)

• Engaging with kids through play, activities, or crafts (optional based on package)

Guest Check-In:

• Greet guests as they arrive and check them in, ensuring a friendly and efficient process.

• Confirm that all guests have signed the required waiver and provide information about our cafe and offerings.

Rule Enforcement:

• Ensure all adults fill out waivers for their children.

• Ensure that all children wear grip socks for safety while playing in the designated areas.

• Follow no shoe policy in the play area.

Opening and Closing Procedures:

• Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up the cafe in the morning and securing it at night.

• Ensure that all tasks on the opening/closing checklist are completed.

Additional Requirements:

• Complete our Barista training from our coffee roasters.

• Complete a CPR certification.

Qualifications:

• Passion for working with children and families.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

• Ability to multitask and handle various responsibilities with a positive attitude.

• Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.

• Previous experience in a cafe or customer service role is a plus but not required.

• Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
